The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals, who finished last in the Central Division of the National League.
The Dodgers lost 5-6 in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2023 Major League Baseball held at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, USA on the 21st (Korean time). The Dodgers, the leader in the National League West, took their 18th loss (29 wins) of the season and lost their pride, while St. Louis stepped on the heights of the season with 20 wins (27 losses).
Starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard continued to pitch below expectations. He gave up 4 hits, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts and 3 runs in 5 innings and retired without a win or loss. If it was encouraging to fill five innings for the first time in three games in May, it was encouraging.
Syndergaard struggled from the start. In the bottom of the first inning, with two outs on first and second base, he allowed Wilson Contreras a right-handed hit and took the lead 0-1.안전놀이터
In the bottom of the second inning, after sending lead hitter Paul Deyong to a sand dune, he allowed second base to be stolen, and Alec Burrelson hit a double at the right time with one RBI, making the score 0-2. In the continued 1-out 3-base crisis, a center fielder sacrifice fly was given to Lars Nutba, and the score was 0-3.
The Dodgers turned the game around at once thanks to JD Martinez’s home run. In the top of the 6th inning, Mookie Betts and Freddy Freeman’s back-to-back hits made it a safe 1st and 3rd base chance. JD Martinez hit a 3-pointer in the left midfield to level the score at 3-3.
It was Tommy Hyeonsu Edmon who made the Dodgers cry. When Victor Gonzalez gave up a left-run double to leadoff batter Tommy Edman in the bottom of the 8th inning, he was in danger of second base safely. After Nutba struck out on a swing, the Dodgers bench threw Paul Goldschmidt with an automatic 4th pitch and chose to play with Nolan Gorman. Gorman, as if he had waited, turned the game around 3-6 with a superior 3-pointer.
In the top of the ninth, the final counterattack was launched. 1. A chance on third base, built on Miguel Vargas’ double and David Peralta’s hit. Jason Heyward hit a double at the right time to make it 4-6. In the 1st out, 2nd and 3rd bases, Will Smith hit a sacrifice fly to center fielder to make it 5-6, but it was not enough to turn the game around. The game ended as Betts walked away with a looking strikeout.
