The Kiwoom Heroes seized the game with two video replay overturns.
Kiwoom won 2-0 against the Samsung Lions of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea, on Wednesday, thanks to Lim Byung-wook’s game-winning sacrifice fly in the 10th inning. With their fourth straight win, Kiwoom leapfrogged KIA into sixth place.
After falling from eighth to ninth place, half a game behind KT, despite a 13-0 win over LG on the 8th, Kiwoom rattled off two straight wins on the 11th to regain eighth place, then won four straight on the 14th to knock Samsung down a spot to seventh, and then won four straight again to move into sixth place for the first time since the 3rd of last month.안전놀이터
Kiwoom continued to struggle in the 21st game. Despite starting pitcher Chung Chan-heon’s seven-inning, six-hit shutout with four strikeouts and no walks, the team’s bats failed to produce a run and the game went into extra innings. Kiwoom put runners on second and third with one out in the top of the 10th on a single by Lee Jeong-hoo and a double by Lee Won-seok, then scored two runs on back-to-back RBI singles by Lim Byung-wook and Kim Dong-heon to take a 2-0 lead.
The score remained 0-0 until the ninth inning. Kiwoom, who could not afford to make the slightest mistake, used the video replay to keep the game close. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Jung Chan-heon led off with a double to left field off Kim Hyun-joon. Lee Jae-hyun followed with a single to left, which Kim slid home. Lee Ji-young made the tag, but the umpire called it safe.
Lee Ji-young and the Kiwoom bench immediately went for a video review. The replay showed that Lee Ji-young’s tag was slightly faster than Kim Hyun-joon’s home tag. The call was overturned as an out, saving Kiwoom from a run. Left fielder Kim Jun-wan’s non-stop home run was the highlight of the game, and Lee Ji-young’s video replay request was correct.

Video replay saved Kiwoom again. In the bottom of the 10th inning, with runners on second and third, Lim Byung-wook hit a sacrifice fly to right field. As Lee rushed home, second baseman Lee Won-seok advanced to third, but the initial call was out. Lee and the third base coach requested a video review, and after two minutes of detailed review, Lee was safe at third base. Lee Won-seok then scored on a sacrifice fly by Kim Dong-heon to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Kim Jun-wan saved the day again in the bottom of the 10th inning with a diving catch of a hit by pinch-hitter Ahn Joo-hyung with the bases loaded. Lim Chang-min closed out the game by striking out the side in the bottom of the 10th. At the plate, Lee Won-seok had his first three-hit game against his hometown team since April 28 against Lotte (four hits), the day after his trade.
